Get to know F&S: Jason Delgado
As the locksmith foreperson at Facilities & Services, Jason Delgado works hard to ensure that members of the St. George community can safely access the spaces they need.
Delgado and his team play an important role in campus accessibility and security.
“We try to keep everything running as smoothly as possible,” said Delgado. “If a student is locked out of their room, a building is not secure, or a maintenance issue occurs with door hardware, we step up and ensure that our campus is accessible, safe and meets the needs of our community.”

This is true at all hours. One night, Delgado was two hours away from the city when he found out about an urgent security issue at a residence. He drove to campus and worked all night to fix the problem so that students could safely reenter the residence.
Delgado also solves maintenance and safety issues for property managers and building engineers. Property managers call anytime a door is not working or a security system is down. If anything impedes day-to-day traffic within campus buildings, he makes every effort to resolve the issue.
Delgado’s team of locksmiths also plays a critical role in campus building projects. They offer guidance and provide training for campus partners on how to program their own locking devices and use them efficiently.
“We bring our different experiences to help each other and be a cohesive team,” said Delgado.
This cohesion is especially helpful on the team’s busiest working days.
“We really can be pulled in every direction,” said Delgado. “We’ll start the day doing a job and then the next thing you know, a security system is down in a building. Rarely do we get a quiet day, but we’re always ready to solve problems.”
