Get to know F&S: Linda Lewis

Linda Lewis has been hard at work since she joined Facilities & Services three years ago.

She manages 11 buildings on the St. George campus, including the Leslie L. Dan Pharmacy Building, Canadiana Gallery, and Student Commons. Lewis is the primary contact for occupants’ day-to-day operations and needs. She is focused on exceeding service expectations.

“If there is a roof leak, janitorial request, light or key request, that all comes through me,” said Lewis. “I basically ensure everyone has a happy and productive experience while they’re on campus.”

To ensure the best possible outcomes, Lewis sustains relationships with clients and building occupants at all levels. Most of her relationships are with facility advisors and facility coordinators of the buildings she manages.

“I ensure there is an open line of communication, and I try to always be accessible to them,” said Lewis. “If they have a question or need something resolved, I try to act on it as quickly as possible.”

Initiating and managing property improvement projects is another crucial responsibility that Lewis takes on. She partners with contractors, clients, and stakeholders to secure on-time deliverables.

“You can really count on Linda,” said Tina Harvey-Kane, director of facilities management at the Leslie L. Dan Pharmacy Building. “She really makes my life easier at work—she always follows up on tasks and we solve problems and generate new ideas together.”

Lewis is constantly working on infrastructure-driven projects, like deferred maintenance, which addresses a backlog of repairs and renewals. Lewis also works on customer-driven projects, such as classroom renovations.

Lewis and her team are currently helping to renovate 18 classrooms at University College. This renovation will upgrade technology and finishes such as paint and carpeting. Lewis and her team are also leading a roof and structural project at 88 College St., which will extend the life of the historically designated building.

“We’re always working with the client to ensure we meet deadlines and that we’re on budget,” said Lewis. “We ensure we achieve their goals as well as ours.”

When asked about the role of teamwork in her day-to-day work, Lewis had nothing but pride and admiration for her team. She is grateful to be a part of such a cohesive team that supports one another and clients.
