Laboratory hazardous waste collection
The Environmental Protection Services team handles the collection, processing and disposal of all chemical, biological and radioactive waste generated at the University of Toronto.
Chemical waste collection
U of T has more than 1,500 laboratories requiring chemical waste disposal on the St. George campus alone. Chemical waste collection by the Environmental Protection Services team occurs on a first-come, first-served basis, so please plan ahead. It can take one to two weeks on average to schedule a direct chemical waste service from a single location.
Scheduling chemical waste collection
If a building has a central chemical waste holding facility, the individual or department managing the area is responsible for contacting the Environmental Protection Services team to request a chemical waste service.
If a chemical waste service is required within a laboratory, it is the responsibility of the generator to contact the Environmental Protection Services team to request a chemical waste service.
To request chemical waste collection, please email eps.hazdisposal@utoronto.ca or call 416-946-3473.
