U of T Carbon Reduction Fund

Are there areas where you think the University of Toronto can reduce greenhouse gas emissions on campus? Submit your carbon reduction project ideas to help make a lasting impact on campus sustainability.

Whether you’re a student, staff or faculty member, your ideas could shape the future of sustainability at U of T.

About the Carbon Reduction Fund

The Carbon Reduction Fund finances greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction projects across all three campuses. Rather than purchasing carbon offsets from external providers, the Carbon Reduction Fund directly supports the university’s emissions reduction efforts.

How to submit a project to the Carbon Reduction Fund

The Sustainability Office is looking for innovative projects that will reduce carbon emissions on any of U of T’s three campuses or other U of T-owned properties.

You can submit your idea using our form. Please include as much information as you can about the project, costs, expected GHG reductions, scale and impact.

Not sure if you have all that information? That’s okay! Submit as much information as you can and if your idea is viable, we’ll work with you to refine the details.

Who can submit a project idea

The Sustainability Office welcomes project ideas from students, staff and faculty members from all three U of T campuses.

Reasons to submit a project proposal

Submitting a project proposal is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to sustainability efforts at U of T.

Projects selected will be eligible for up to $200K in funding, with execution management supported by the Sustainability Office.

Successful project proponents can also collaborate with the Sustainability Office, build their network and be publicly recognized for their innovative ideas.

How projects are selected

Project submissions will be evaluated based on feasibility, cost, GHG reductions and co-benefits. Project funding will support project implementation rather than research and development.
