Every year we participate in both the Work Study and Operations & Real Estate Partnerships Professional Experience program (OREP PEP). Work Study students are a key component of the Sustainability Office. Under the guidance of our knowledgeable staff, we provide flexible employment (25 hrs/month) through meaningful assignments, targeting 12+ students each term. Recruitment typically takes place in April (Summer term) and August (Fall-Winter).
The OREP PEP provides undergraduate and graduate students an internship opportunity to gain meaningful experience in their field of study. Recruitment usually takes place in March and August of each year.

The Sustainability Office is a key partner in the University’s campus as a living lab program, which aims to bring together faculty members, students, staff, and, where appropriate, external partners to collaborate on developing sustainability projects that combine operational and academic activities. Such projects contribute to the operational sustainability goals of the University while providing an opportunity for research and experiential learning, where students are directly involved in addressing real world sustainability problems at the University.
The University of Toronto St. George campus will become climate positive by 2050. We commit to reducing more greenhouse gases than we emit, creating a net benefit in our community. Our carbon and energy master plan describes how we will design and build our utility infrastructure to significantly reduce our operating carbon footprint— a critical first step on our path to becoming a climate positive campus.
The 2022 annual sustainability report presents progress on our carbon reduction commitments and highlights our most recent accomplishments as well as focus areas for 2023.
Get involved and stay up to date on events related to sustainability across all three campuses. Access the sustainability events calendar located on the CLNx website.
