What is being done?
Urbacon is installing High Temperature Heating Hot Tap Connections in the Existing Building, which involves the following Scope of Work:
URB MOP #34 R1 – Notice Drawing
- Steps #1 to #3: Preparation and safety protocol.
· Step #4: Cut insulation off existing High Temperature Lines.
· Step #5: Mark piping for the new 4-inch connections.
· Step #6: Weld 4-inch spool pieces with flanges (1 Day) (Hot Work Permit required for the duration of work).
· Step #7: Confirm that TSSA has been notified and all documentation is in order.
· Step #8: B&M to have Subcontractor perform Hot Tap through the valves.
· Step #9: Continue routing of high temperature lines until completion. (Hot Work Permit required for the duration of work).
- Step #10: Urbacon to perform regular fire watch as per UofT requirements.
· Step #11: Confirm with Engineer for anchor and guide locations and install in accordance with instruction.
· Step #12: B&M to perform testing of piping.
· Step #13: B&M to proceed with insulating piping.
· Step #14: Clean up and demobilize.
· Step #15: Completion.

How will it impact building occupants?
- The space will be under the control of Urbacon for the duration of the work.
- Building access to the affected areas will be restricted for safety. Occupants will have a path of travel in the loading dock and adjacent work areas. Flag people or traffic controllers will be on site to direct traffic as needed.
- Every effort will be made to keep the noise and disruption to a minimum.
- Dust will be controlled, and floors will be vacuumed and wet mopped after the shift to prevent dust from traveling to nearby dust-sensitive areas.
- Any asbestos work, electrical shutdown, and mechanical service alerts, if required, will be issued separately.
