Environmental protection services
The Environmental Protection Services team handles the collection, processing and disposal of all biological, chemical and radioactive waste generated at the University of Toronto. This hazardous waste management service operates in compliance with the university’s environmental health and safety guidelines.
Services
- Disposing of biological, chemical and radioactive waste, toxins and treatments, polychlorinated biphenyls and gas cylinders
- Facilitating the laboratory exit/renovation/decommission procedure
- Responding to major chemical spill emergencies
- Registering information and updates with the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks
- Maintaining waste manifest procedures
- Collecting and recycling/disposal of batteries
