At the Free Store, everything is free!
How it works
The St. George campus Free Store is open to current students, staff and faculty at the University of Toronto. You must show your TCard for entry. Once admitted, you’re welcome to take any items you want. Available items include clothing, shoes, furniture, books and office supplies. Access to the Free Store is restricted to current U of T students, faculty and staff, including UTSC and UTM.
The store is staffed by volunteer student sustainable ambassadors and volunteers from our partner organization Regenesis; please treat them with respect. Volunteers are unable to help with moving or carrying items. You must arrange to remove and transport any items you want to take.
Location
The Free Store is located at Borden Building South at 487 Spadina Cres. The entrance is off Ursula Franklin Street, down a small flight of steps. Look for the A-frame sign outside during opening hours.
Accessibility
Access to the Free Store requires using stairs. The store is in a historic building that unfortunately presents accessibility challenges for those who use certain mobility aids. If you need to request accommodation, please email sustainability@utoronto.ca.

Thursday 12 to 2 p.m.
The Free Store is closed during reading weeks, exam periods and holiday breaks. It will be closed for the final exam period beginning April 4.

How to donate
The Free Store accepts donations from anyone if the items are clean, in good condition, and on our list of accepted items. Items that do not meet these criteria will be thrown away. Donations can be placed in the donation bin by the entrance of the Free Store during open hours.
If you would like to donate large or significant quantities of items, please email sustainability@utoronto.ca to coordinate a drop-off date and time.

- Clothing (except undergarments, socks, athletic wear and swimwear)
- Handbags, backpacks, and other bags
- Kitchenware and household items
- Small appliances (for example, toasters, lamps)
- Arts and crafts supplies
Items we do not accept
- Undergarments, socks, athletic wear or swimwear
- Bedding
- Carpets or rugs
- Hazardous materials
- Batteries
- Large appliances
- Cutlery
- Medical supplies
- Food or perishables of any kind
- Pet items
- Broken, soiled or dirty items
- Anything not in good reusable condition
