Lost and Found aims to reunite owners with their lost belongings on the St. George campus.

Lost and Found operates by appointment only.

Please make an appointment if:

  • You believe you lost an item on the St. George campus. We cannot guarantee that your item will be at Lost and Found.
  • The Caretaking Office has contacted you about a found item. Be sure to pick up your item within 30 days of being notified.

Appointments can be made Tuesday to Thursday 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Please note we do not accept perishable items, lighters, flammables, or weapons at Lost and Found.

Frequently asked questions

I lost an item. What should I do?

  • If you lost an item on the St. George campus, make an appointment to come into Lost and Found, as we do not identify items over the phone or over email.
  • When you come for your appointment, staff will help you check if your item has been found. We cannot guarantee that your item will be at Lost and Found. 
  • To claim an item, be ready to provide a detailed description of the item and valid identification. For all electronics, please bring a paired phone or tablet to verify that the item is yours.

I lost my TCard. What should I do?

Please contact the TCard Office directly for assistance.

I lost my water bottle. Do I have to make an appointment?

No appointment is required for water bottles. All water bottles recovered to Lost and Found are stored for a maximum of two weeks in the corridor outside the Caretaking Office, which is located on the third floor of 256 McCaul StYou will need to buzz in to access the corridor. Unclaimed water bottles are donated after two weeks.

I found an item that was lost. Where can I drop it off?

Please drop off the item with a caretaker inside the U of T building you found the item in. 

Alternatively, you can drop off the item at the Caretaking Office on the third floor of 256 McCaul St. Please provide as much information as possible, including when and where you found the item.

What happens to unclaimed items?

Unclaimed water bottles are donated after two weeks. Cash is donated to an appropriate charitable organization.

All other unclaimed items are sent to the Swap Shop after six weeks. 

I lost an item at the Mississauga or Scarborough campus. Who should I contact?
