When something on campus needs repair, clients can submit a service request through the Facilities & Services website. For urgent maintenance requests or facilities emergencies, however, clients can call 416-978-3000, which directs them to the Campus Safety communications centre.

Stamatakos is the first point of contact for these calls, which could be regarding leaks, icy walkways, gas or burning smells, and similar emergencies.

If anyone in the university community identifies and calls in a facilities emergency, Stamatakos creates a work order, which then gets triaged to the appropriate F&S tradesperson or building engineer. F&S staff, who prioritize the safety and wellbeing of our community and the reliability of our facilities, respond to between 40,000 and 60,000 building-related service calls every year.

“Our callers get more information on what is deemed an emergency,” said Stamatakos. “I provide the personal touch that helps guide our callers with anything they need.”

Stamatakos also helps clients who are not sure where to report their issues. “I can always take that call if it is a trades-related issue, or I direct them to someone who can help,” said Stamatakos.

Stamatakos loves interacting with clients at the call centre. Getting to know people and learning new things about the St. George campus is central to her day-to-day purpose.

“I love building a rapport with my callers,” said Stamatakos. “Building relationships with them is crucial to a good client service experience.”

Staying organized and sorting calls by importance and priority is another major part of Stamatakos’s day-to-day. Her attention to detail contributes to the St. George campus running smoothly.

“If we had to multiply the number of buildings throughout the university and then take into consideration the number of floors and the number of washrooms, we wouldn’t have enough plumbers to attend to all issues at the same,” said Stamatakos. “I make a determination on what is more of an emergency and what is not.”

Stamatakos is focused on providing a positive client experience for all. The personal touch Stamatakos brings to each call helps her achieve this goal.
